The old town hall of Essen

The old town hall of Essen, built in 1884/85 by Paul Zindel, is well remembered by all citizens of Essen. As town hall of Essen it has experienced good times and bad times ( e.g. the Kapp - revolt in 1920 or the French occupation in 1923 ). Emperor William II. visited the town hall together with Friederich A. Krupp in 1896. 1965 it was demolished and at its former location the Wertheim mall was built which was later wrecked too.
