The Gruga hall was buildt 1958 on the grounds of the old fair pavilion 5. It has room for about 8000 people. In this hall TUSEM Essen who has several times been the German Handball champion fight for the national and international honour. World-famous stars from the international pop scene like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Tina Turner gave concerts on their tour in this hall as well. The legendary "Rockpalast" went from here around the world 17 times.
